The Ray Of Light Foundation
Chennai

Dr Priya Ramachandran founded the Ray of Light Foundation in 2002 with the primary goals of improving the survival of children with cancer, adopting children who could not otherwise afford or access treatment, and finally providing the best treatment possible according to Western protocols, regardless of cost, to provide each child with the best chance of survival. Because the children must be treated for the duration of their disease, the foundation's funds must be enough to cover 1-2 years of intensive care for each child. Children with a variety of cancers are accepted into the programme, with the primary selection criteria being whether or not they can afford and obtain therapy, rather than the type of disease they have. The cancer foundation that fully commits to funding paediatric cancer treatment for the entire term of the treatment. The foundation not only covers the full expense of therapy but also ensures that it is delivered at a tertiary care Children's Hospital under the supervision of a team of paediatric oncologists. Because of the nature of paediatric cancer, if the right treatment is given at the right time, the odds of a cure in our country are over 80%. The majority of parents discontinue treatment because they are unable to cover the total expense, which is out of hand for even the most middle-class family. In addition, most organizations contribute to the cost of cancer treatment. The difference with the Ray of Light Foundation is that the complete treatment is provided as assistance for each and every kid, with no expense spared. The foundation also monitors the youngsters on a long-term basis and provides comprehensive support to the family. The idea is to "adopt" each child and ensure that he or she survives cancer and lives a normal life afterwards. All funds raised will be utilized exclusively to purchase medications, consumables, blood products, and investigations that are not available at the Child Trust Hospital. This is due to an agreement between the foundation and the hospital, under which the hospital waives all bed and lab charges for investigations. If a company wishes to sponsor one kid at a time, the payment for that child can be spread out over two years and paid in instalments of Rs. 2.5 lakhs per year. to have access to high-quality healthcare in their communities. We provide free medical treatment to children who have been diagnosed with cancer and come from low-income families. Diagnostic facilities, in-patient and outpatient treatment, investigations, drugs, intensive care management, and psychosocial support for children with cancer are all available through our services.
