The society wanted the firm to design an overall master plan for their Gujarat Cancer and Research Organization that aligned current space use characteristics with the institute's long-term strategic planning goals. A key objective of the project was to develop the GCRI campus community and identity by building a 750-student medical college that would be designed according to MCI standards and provide the highest quality education in medical and allied fields. The design resulted in the construction of a new 900-bed teaching hospital in the heart of campus, with a balanced concentration on general care and specialized areas, which would assist the institution to evolve its mission and serve as an encouraging model for medical structural plan across India.
